El 7 de diciembre de 2018 China lanzó un rover a la Luna bajo el nombre Yutu 2, Conejo de Jade en español, que comenzó sus exploraciones el 3 de enero de 2019. Desde entonces se encuentra analizando la superficie del satélite, siendo el primer vehículo que recorre su lado más lejano. Precisamente ahí, en la cara oculta de la Luna, detectó recientemente (diciembre de 2021) una extraña formación cúbica que despertó la atención generalizada en todo el mundo. Lo insólito de este hallazgo es tal, que el rover alteró sus rutas para acercarse específicamente a esta zona y descubrir de qué se trata.
El Yutu 2 sobre la superficie de la Luna
El Yutu 2 es el primer vehículo que pisa la Luna en casi 40 años de historia. Forma parte de la misión china Chang’e 3 y está desarrollado por el Instituto de Ingeniería de Sistemas Aeroespaciales de Shanghai con el Instituto de Ingeniería de Sistemas de Naves Espaciales de Beijing.
El rover se lanzó con el objetivo de explorar un área de 3 km2 de la superficie lunar durante un tiempo de tres meses. Aunque descubrimientos como este modifican, definitivamente, cualquier programa previsto.

La cabaña misteriosa
El hecho que alertó, de alguna forma, a los medios internacionales no es tanto el hallazgo, sino que el Yutu 2 hubiera modificado su rumbo para observarlo de cerca. Como muchos apuntan hasta el momento, lo más probable es que sea una formación rocosa sin más. No es raro que algunos minerales se agrupen y desarrollen de esta manera. Pero en cualquier caso, lo cierto es que el descubrimiento amerita más análisis. Para llegar a la ubicación exacta, la Administración Nacional del Espacio de China (CNSA) calcula que necesitará dos o tres meses.
Dándole un punto más enigmático, el cubo se bautizó como «la cabaña misteriosa». Un nombre que no deja mucho a la imaginación y que sugiere fantasías definitivamente improbables, muy lejos de la realidad.
El cubo de la cara oculta de la Luna recuerda a muchos fanáticos del misterio aquella fotografía de la NASA de la superficie de Marte. La disposición de las rocas, junto con las luces y las sombras, hacían parecer un busto esculpido, que para algunos era la clara muestra de restos de civilizaciones pasadas en el Planeta Rojo. Uno de tantos esfuerzos por encontrar algo, más allá de los límites de la Tierra.
