El evento E3 de 2019 anunció, entre otros lanzamientos, el videojuego de rol de acción Elden Ring. Un título desarrollado por FromSoftware y distribuido por Bandai Namco Entertainmet. Pero más allá de su estilo e historia, lo que más llama la atención de la presentación es quién está detrás de él. Se trata de una colaboración entre el director Hidetaka Miyazaki, creador de la saga Souls, con nada más y nada menos que George R. R. Martin.
El desarrollo del videojuego
Todo comenzó en el año 2017 después del lanzamiento del último contenido descargable de Dark Souls III, The Ringed City. Siguiendo el mismo estilo de fantasía oscura de la saga Souls, Miyazaki planeó Elden Ring como una evolución de estos videojuegos anteriores aunque con algunas variaciones.
Como fanático de Game of Thrones y la saga literaria de George R. R. Martin, Miyazaki se puso en contacto con el autor para proponerle participar en el desarrollo del título. Entre varias negociaciones y discusiones acerca del proyecto, Martin aceptó y comenzaron a trabajar juntos.
La participación de Martin se centró en la descripción y el detalle del universo del juego, aspecto en el que claramente es experto. Con total libertad creativa, profundizó hasta donde quiso en su trabajo, entregando finalmente una especie de «manual de maestro de calabozo de juego de mesa» en palabras de Miyazaki.
Lo que se espera de ‘Elden Ring’
Según las últimas publicaciones al respecto, Elden Ring saldrá a la venta en febrero de 2022 para PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S y Microsoft Windows.
Será un rol de acción y fantasía en tercera persona con mundo abierto, personajes personalizados y mecánicas de juego bastante interesantes como la equitación y el combate a caballo. No contará con demasiados NPC poblando ciudades, pero será un mapa enorme, lleno de ruinas por explorar y aventuras para el protagonista.
