Hace unos días me encontré con una noticia entre lecturas varias que me hizo recordar algunas cosas y me sirvió para escribir, aunque sea, una breve reseña.
Traída desde Cinco Días, dice lo siguiente:
Lo primero que he hecho tras leer esto ha sido darle una vuelta a la memoria y recordar un proyecto de investigación que había hecho en la universidad con mi amiga Paula, para entender cómo la conducta deontológica del ser humano había evolucionado con el paso del tiempo, y cómo esto se hacía presente en determinadas disciplinas. En nada menos que en los métodos de tortura y ejecución habíamos indagado, una selección poco ética quizá, pero la verdad, extremadamente interesante.
La conclusión que saqué de aquello es que poco a poco se desarrollaron en nuestras conciencias diversos conceptos morales como la dignidad y el respeto. Y éstos fueron incluso la piedra angular de buena parte de los escritos y leyes fundamentales de una sociedad. Más concretamente, en caso de aquel estudio, el derecho a una muerte digna. Pues bien, hoy, unos cuantos años después, planteamos como derecho, nada menos que derecho universal, Internet.
Esto me hizo reflexionar sobre la evolución, más bien en cómo hacemos evolucionar nuestro entorno para adaptarlo a nosotros.
Dice la nota que Bruselas aprobó diversos proyectos legislativos que atañen directamente al sector de las telecomunicaciones, tratando de acondicionarla a estos tiempos digitales. Y que, de algún modo, esta nueva regulación puede equipararse a aquella obligación para los operadores de ofrecer servicio de cabinas telefónicas. Qué lejos quedan ya esos tiempos.
El plan tiene un objetivo de conectividad de al menos 100 Mbps de descarga, mejorable a un Giga por segundo, para el año 2025.
Según el artículo, en 2015 el 71% de los hogares europeos disponían de conexión de 30 Mbps. Este punto me obligó de nuevo a darle una vuelta a la memoria y recordar los principios del 2000, cuando Internet llegó a mi casa. El ruidito infernal de aquel aparatejo al que todos mirábamos un poco de soslayo, metros y metros de cable de red corridos a lo largo del piso, luces verdes que tintinean y velocidades que hoy serían casi motivo de suicidio.
En realidad creo que esto responde bien a una necesidad ya no tan nueva de optimizar el servicio y el acceso a Internet de todos los usuarios. Ya no entro en el buen o mal uso que uno pueda hacer de él, ese es otro tema.
Lo que me parece interesante es que esto pueda ser la antesala de varios futuribles que ya nos vienen anunciando y que están aquí. Caso de la domótica, tecnología smart, vehículos sin conductor, etc. Todo ello sumando a unos 50,000 millones de objetos conectados en todo el mundo, según los cálculos expresados en el artículo.
Definitivamente, si hay algo en que somos difíciles de satisfacer es en la velocidad de navegación y descarga de información y data. Pues así es, una buena conexión a Internet, derecho universal.
